We are very supportive of the intention to roll out smart meters to UK households. As soon as the government is in a position to confirm all aspects of the roll out we will update all our customers as to our plans. Smart meters do cost significantly more than the current meters and this difference cannot be covered by the additional savings we make in not having to send a meter reader to your property. However, we are endeavouring to keep any additional costs to a minimum.
Most suppliers are currently installing meters as part of ongoing trials and these meters are not to the specification required by government, so they will need to be replaced before 2010. These suppliers are therefore not charging for the meters, but this position is likely to change once the meter specification is published and the industry has to replace 40 million meters prior to 2020.

Been a customer for nearly 2 years and remain very satisfied.
Prior to that I switched every year to get the best deal, Ovo take all the hassle out of getting the best deal by having the most competitive prices all of the time. I don't miss being messed around by the Big 6, thank you Ovo.

as someone who is looking to change their current energy supplier, i find these comments very useful when making a decision, its not always about cost, sometimes customer satisfsaction can be the deciding factor when changing. I have read all the q&a's and was pleased to see all had a response until i reached your question, no response to a question which a lot of people would no doubt want an answer for regarding T&C's.
Why no response from OVO?

Like you I shop around for myself, my parents and my elderly neighbour each year. My contract came up for renewal this month and I'm pleased to advise that OVO were best price for another year for all three of us. We have renewed!
Sometimes it is 'luck of the draw' and timing is also a factor.

I would be happy if OVO would bring there prices down NOW! (as it has been confirmed that due to a sharp fall in the price of wholesale gas over the winter period due to the mild weather). If not then they are wrong about there "FAIR PRICE PLEDGE" today is the 11/01/2012 we will see

Thanks for your message. Signing up to a fixed deal means your prices won’t change for the duration of your contract. If you’re currently on a variable rate or coming up for renewal in the next 8 weeks, as an existing customer you can take advantage of our current fixed rate prices for another 12 months.

Please to see Ovo was one of the first suppliers to cut their prices recently.

But you don't reward loyal customers as it only applies to new customers. You would like me to recommend new customers to you so apply the cut to all customers.

Do it now and grab the headlines again and as a consequence get even more customers.
