Have you got the 'Power to Switch?'

17 February 2015 | Jessica Lennard

Over the next few weeks, you’ll hopefully be hearing a lot about a new Government campaign called Power to Switch’, which launched on Monday (16 February). We think it’s a great idea, here’s why:

The Department for Energy and Climate Change reckons a whopping 13.5 million households could save a combined £2.7 billion if they switched energy supplier. That means roughly half of us are paying more than we need to for our energy.

The Government also thinks the average is around £200, but there are deals out there which could save even more than that. If you’ve been with one supplier for a long time and you haven’t ‘re-fixed’ or switched, you’re likely to be on a more expensive ‘Standard Variable’ tariff. These are usually much pricier, so to benefit from big savings you need to get switching!

Remember though, when you do switch, price doesn’t have to be your only consideration. Every customer also deserves to be treated like they matter, because they do. So although OVO is just under £250 cheaper than the Big Six Standard Variable tariff*, we’re determined that shouldn’t mean compromising on customer service. We’re really proud and grateful, thanks to our customers’ votes, to be the first ever energy supplier awarded Recommended Provider Status by Which?.

You can check out independent reviews of customer service from providers like Which?, U-Switch and MoneySavingExpert by visiting their websites and you can find out more about switching from energy regulator Ofgem here: www.BeAnEnergyShopper.com

Be a savvy switcher and compare energy plans with OVO Energy

Happy switching!

*Big Six Standard Variable Tariff compared to our Fixed Rate Tariffs (UK average, PC1, medium user). Data taken from Uswitch insight tool. The average of the Big 6 is £1,165, so the comparison to our £920 is £245. As calculated 16.02.15.
