What’s in this guide?

The switching process

It takes around four weeks from switch to sorted. On your contract summary you can find the date we expect you to join us. Between now and then, here’s what you can expect.

We want you to be 100% happy, so you’ve got a 14-day cooling-off period to change your mind if you decide OVO’s not for you.

During this time, you’ll need to check that we have the right MPAN (electricity) and MPRN (gas) details for your home.

Once your cooling-off period is over, we’ll be in touch with your current energy supplier to take over your supply.

Your first meter readings are important as they set up your new account right from where your old supplier left off.

We’ll email you when we’re ready for them and point you to My OVO.

The importance of regular meter readings

The more up-to-date we are, the more accurate your statements will be. So it’s best to send us your meter readings once a month, just before your statement is due.

Giving your readings is really easy in My OVO or through our OVO Energy app.

Your money, your interest

We like you to pay for your energy in advance by Direct Debit to keep your account in credit. That means, as it’s your money, you’ll get our 3% OVO Interest Reward on anything left in your account after you’ve paid your bill.
