London, 1st April 2019: OVO Energy will be increasing the price of its Simpler Energy tariff. The company is making these changes because the cost of commodities has increased substantially over the past year and we are increasing our prices to remain sustainable and responsible. All of our variable tariff prices will always be within the price cap, so customers will always have this safety net in place to ensure they’re paying a fair price for their energy - it’s an idea we’ve supported from the start.
The table below shows how our Simpler Energy tariff will be affected:
1st April 2019
Difference in £
Simpler (P1) headline price
£83 (on average) elec / £94 gasl
£85 (on average) elec / £95 gas
OVO Energy reviews its prices on a regular basis and has a strong track record of cost-reflective pricing for its standard variable tariff and passing back savings to customers whenever possible.
Customers are not in a fixed plan and are free to leave penalty free. However, we’d advise customers switch to a fixed price tariff which gives the customer added peace of mind that their unit rate and standing charges are protected against potential price increases. Our cheapest fixed tariff is currently £144 below the price cap, allowing customers to fix for two years.
The price changes take effect from 1st April 2019.
