London, 16 October 2020 - OVO was awarded Company of the Decade at last night’s BusinessGreen Leaders’ Awards.
Over the past decade OVO has grown from a challenger to an established brand serving nearly 5 million customers in the UK and internationally, striving to deliver more affordable clean energy for everyone.
The judges were impressed with the recent actions OVO has taken over the past decade to drive progress to net zero, including: launching the first widely available Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) charger, now the largest domestic V2G project in the world; creating Plan Zero, setting out its strategy to drive progress to zero carbon living; and building Kaluza, the leading intelligent energy platform powering the future of energy.
Kaluza, OVO's intelligent platform, also won Green Infrastructure Project of the Year for their work in Project SMILE in Orkney. The real-time cloud platform optimises smart home devices enabling them to store energy during low demand, preventing local wind energy from going to waste.
OVO’s Director of Sustainability Kate Weinberg received Highly Commended in the Sustainability Executive of the Year category, with Plan Zero also receiving the same accolade in the Net Zero Now Award category for Decarbonisation Strategy of the Year.
