OVO Energy appoints new VP of Customer Care

London, 11th May 2021: OVO Energy, the UK’s largest independent energy supplier, announces the appointment of Joe Gordon as VP of Customer Care.

Joe will be responsible for overseeing the operational activity and transformation of our customer facing care teams, while driving continuous improvements through operational efficiency and business integration. Joe remains a Non Executive Vice President at the Institute of Customer Service and independent advisor on customer experience to the HMRC.

Joe has a wealth of experience in customer facing retail environments. As the CEO of First Direct bank, Joe scaled agile ways of working and transformed the customer experience to achieve the highest NPS of any UK company. During Joe’s tenure First Direct Bank won more customer satisfaction awards than any previous era in the company's history, including the inaugural Competition Market Authority bank rankings. Earlier in his career, Joe had customer-facing leadership roles at HSBC UK, BT and Sainsbury’s.

Joe joins alongside recent senior hires including: Ben Blake (CEO of OVO Energy) from Expedia Group; Simon Maine (Director of Corporate Affairs) from Brunswick; and Chris Russell (Managing Director of OVO Drive).
