OVO appoints new CEO of retail business

  • Raman Bhatia, Chief Operating Officer of OVO has been appointed CEO of OVO’s retail business from 1st March 2022. 
  • Adrian Letts will be stepping down after three years of leading OVO through the acquisition of SSE Energy Services, the pandemic and the rise of gas prices.
  • Raman has led the operations of OVO over the last two years including the migration of customers onto the Kaluza platform and the digital transformation of the customer experience which saw OVO Energy move up the charts to 2nd place in the Which? Annual Energy Supplier Ratings
  • OVO’s VP of Customer Care and former CEO of First Direct Bank Joe Gordon will become COO.

About Raman Bhatia:

Raman joined OVO as Chief Operating Officer in January 2020 and has led the integration of SSE and the migration of millions of customers onto the Kaluza platform. Under Raman’s leadership,  OVO Energy is driving positive change for customers, most recently recognised by rising from 8th to 2nd in the Which? Annual Energy Supplier Survey. Raman is the co-sponsor of OVO’s Inclusion and Diversity initiative: OVO Belonging which aims to build a truly inclusive culture at OVO. The company recently won Diverse Company of the Year at the National Diversity Awards.

Prior to OVO, Raman was the Head of Digital Bank for HSBC Retail Banking and Wealth Management in the UK and Europe. As a member of the Executive Committee, he led innovation, new digital ways of working, risk management and the design, development, deployment and commercialisation of digital platforms, products and channels within the UK and Europe.

Before HSBC, Raman worked in consumer tech as VP at HouseTrip and Director of Strategy at Expedia for EMEA. Earlier in his career Raman worked as a management consultant at Bain as well as an advisor to governments, international development agencies on urban governance and planning.

Raman holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
