11 July 2022

Monday 11th July 2022: OVO has today become the latest member of Business in the Community (BITC), the Prince’s Responsible Business Network, and joins over 600 businesses who are committed to achieving business objectives by focusing on societal needs. BITC has members across the UK who are working with communities to create thriving places for people to live and work.

As the energy crisis continues across the UK, it’s important for businesses to work together to support households. OVO has support in place for its customers to help offer support or guidance.

BITC brings businesses together to tackle some of the biggest issues facing communities across the UK, from protecting the planet to leading on gender and racial equality.

The role of businesses in creating a fair and healthy society has been at the core of BITC’s agenda since it was founded by HRH Prince of Wales in 1982. For 40 years, BITC has been leading businesses to put responsibility into the heart of decision making, so that business decisions have a positive impact on the planet, communities, and people.

Charlotte Eaton, Chief People Officer, OVO said:

“We’re incredibly proud to join Business in the Community and together with others across different industries, learn, share and take action to tackle the challenges impacting families and communities across the UK. As we enter another difficult period for households as the cost of living crisis continues to bite, we hope that working as a bigger network we can continue to solve challenges facing us both now and in the future.”

Amanda Mackenzie OBE, CEO of Business in the Community, said:

“Businesses can achieve more when they unite together and that’s why we’re delighted to welcome OVO as the latest member of BITC. Our members recognise the huge benefits that come from working together to create thriving communities across the country and with our committed network of business leaders, we make that happen. Over the past 40 years, businesses have tackled some of the biggest social and environmental issues in the UK, but there is still more work to be done. BITC members like OVO will help lead the way for businesses to not just address the challenges ahead, but to collectively use their expertise and leadership to bring about long-lasting change.”
