OVO APPOINTS ALEX DOOREY AS VP OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS

Thursday 16th June 2022: OVO, the UK’s third largest energy supplier, announces the appointment of Alex Doorey as VP of Corporate Affairs.
Alex joins the leadership team as VP of Corporate Affairs, in which she will be responsible for public affairs, policy, media relations and sustainability. As part of this, she will coordinate corporate communications activity across the whole OVO Group, ensuring alignment with the company’s Plan Zero goals to reduce carbon emissions and energy affordability for customers.
Alex joins from Virgin Media O2 where she was appointed as O2’s Head of External Communications in 2019, and in 2021 she moved into an expanded role, leading external communications for both the Virgin Media and O2 brands following the merging of the two companies. Alex also held the role of Interim Director of Sustainability.
Over the past 15 years, Alex has developed a career across journalism, front line government media relations, and communications for major consumer brands. Training in broadcast journalism, she first joined Sky working on production before moving into politics. After a time working for David Cameron MP, she took up a position first as media adviser, and then as Chief of Staff, at Conservative Campaign Headquarters.
On leaving government, Alex joined the private sector to lead corporate and sustainability communications at J Sainsbury PLC. She later joined eBay UK as Head of Corporate Comms, driving consumer activations and building a focus on the marketplace's support for UK small businesses.
Alex joins OVO in the Autumn alongside recent recruit Dan Burdett, who joins in July as Chief Customer Officer. Together, the senior leadership team at OVO are ensuring consistent communication with both customers and OVO people as the energy crisis continues.
