The Warm Home Discount Eligibility Criteria
Who fits into the Scottish “broader group”
This Warm Home Discount group is for:
A person who receives Pension Age Disability Payment
A person who receives Adult Disability Payment
A person who receives Universal Credit
A person who receives Income Support
A person who receives Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
A person who receives Housing Benefits
A person who receives Free School Meals (FSM) for children born on or before 1 April 2018
A person whose Gross Annual Household Income (before benefits, tax and deductions) is less than £21,091
A person who receives Contribution-Based Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) OR New Style Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
How will I know if my application is successful?
We’ll let you know if you qualify within 5 working days of receiving your application. We might need you to send us some photocopies of documents to support your application. If your application’s successful, we’ll provide you with your £150 discount within 6 weeks of you sending us these. If we don’t need any photocopies, we’ll apply the amount 6 weeks after your application is successful.
What if I don’t agree with your decision?
We can only base our decision on the information you give us. If you think you’ve made a mistake, you can apply again. We may need more supporting evidence if your answers change. The Scottish “Broader Group” Warm Home Discount is distributed on a first come first serve basis. Ofgem decides the number of discounts we can provide based on our market share.
Does the Warm Home Discount apply to gas?
It’s a discount for your electricity bill. If you’re a dual fuel customer, you can choose to add it to your gas meter balance when you apply.
