If you take part in the trial, your 15p per kWh Heat Pump Plus add-on rate will stay the same. We’ll just optimise your heat pump to use energy at times when the grid is greener. Having a compatible Vaillant aroTHERM 3 post 2016 or an aroTHERM Plus heat pump with a connected myVAILLANT Connect internet gateway
Agreeing to OVO controlling the temperature of your heat pump remotely during the trial
Being signed up to our Heat Pump Plus add-on and being an OVO customer.

FAQs about the trial
We’ll try our best to keep your home at a comfortable temperature, but there may be times when it feels warmer or cooler than you’d like. This happens because we adjust the temperature to save energy during high-price periods. It’s all part of the trial, but we understand it might not be right for everyone.
You do retain the ability to override at any point. We ask that as a trial participant, this is not done too often as it'll impact our optimisation. Nonetheless, you're always in control and will be able to tweak the settings if the need arises. We just ask that you contact us at [email protected] if you do make a change to let us know why. This is so we can better understand how to optimise your heating in the long term.
To get your £100 voucher, you’ll need to let us manage your heat pump without frequent overrides. If you manually change the settings too often, you may no longer be eligible for the incentive, as this affects our ability to meet the trial’s objectives.
We’ll collect data about your home’s energy use and how your heat pump is performing during the trial. We take your privacy seriously and will manage your data according to the trial terms and conditions.
During the trial, OVO will only be changing the schedule on your heat pump rather than any complicated settings to prevent technical issues. If there are any disruptions or malfunctions with the system or your heat pump, it might impact your home’s comfort temporarily. We’ll work to resolve any problems as quickly as possible to minimise any inconvenience. Please get in touch if you believe you are affected at [email protected].
Sometimes, we’ll run these events on a regular schedule, and other times, they might be unplanned based on energy prices. While we’ll do our best to communicate any changes, there may be instances where adjustments happen without prior notice.
You’re free to opt out of the trial at any time. However, please note that if you choose to leave before the trial ends, you may not qualify for the £100 voucher. You can contact us at: [email protected] to opt out.
Important to know
1 Our optimization aims to run your heat pump when the grid has more renewable energy in it. Meaning it’s less likely your heat pump will be charged by energy from fossil fuels.
