The UK’s leading, independent energy disruptor OVO has appointed Sarah Calcott to the newly-created role of Chief Operating Officer as it gears up for further expansion in 2016 and beyond.
Calcott joins OVO from eBay where she was most recently COO for the UK. In her new role, which she begins in January 2016, Calcott is charged with being the operational driving force behind the company, ensuring it maintains its record for outstanding, end-to-end customer experience, industry innovation and growth.
Launched in 2009 by entrepreneur Stephen Fitzpatrick, OVO is the tenth fastest growing private business in the UK. In September it passed the milestone of half a million customers following 300% growth in 2014. This year OVO became the first and only energy supplier to be awarded Which? Recommended Provider status.
Stephen Fitzpatrick, CEO said: “We are building the team, brand, technology and processes to enable us to continue scaling rapidly in 2016 and beyond.
Sarah’s appointment is pivotal to the next exciting phase of the OVO story. She brings a compelling blend of experience working in large, progressive customer-focused businesses combined with an energetic, start-up mentality that is integral to our culture.”
Joining eBay in March 2012, Calcott delivered improved customer fulfilment services, including an innovative click and collect partnership with with Argos, created a strong go-to-market function and seller engagement programme, including sponsorship of Channel Advisor’s Catalyst Europe 2015 event and created the Management Today and eBay Digital Small Power List to recognise the best digital SMBs across the UK.
