OVO Energy app FAQs

First of all, we need to be powering your home – and you need to set up your online account (see below). Then, it’s super easy – you just need your email address and password to start using the app.

Once you’re in, you can even set up fingerprint or face ID, for even quicker access!

Step 1: Get to your energy account

Go to a web browser, or the web view in your app. To log in directly, visit my.ovoenergy.com

You can also log in from the OVO homepage – take a look in the top right corner for the button that says My Account.

Step 2: Set up a password

Look underneath the big 'Log in' button. Find the link that says ‘First time logging in?’, and click it.

Step 3: Give your email address

Type in your email address and click Submit.

Step 4: Check your email

We’ll send you an email with a link to set your password – open it, create your password, and you’re in.

The email is from '[email protected]' – and the subject line will be 'My OVO password change request'.

It’s important that you set your password within 30 minutes, as the link will expire.

If you don’t get an email straight away, it’s worth checking  your ‘spam’ folder. If you’re a Gmail user, it may also be filtered into your ‘promotions’ folder.

Step 5: Sign in whenever you like

That’s it. You’ve got access to your online account. It’s easy to use wherever you are, on your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Plus: you’re now all set up to log into the OVO Energy app using your email address and password.

You’ll find the app by searching for OVO Energy in the App Store on your iPhone, or Google Play on your Android phone. Simply hit Install. It’s free to download and use.

Anyone can download the app, but you won’t be able to log in and do anything unless you have an OVO Energy account.

Go to the Account tab. Then press the Log Out button to leave your account.

Yes, it sure will! Logging in is quick and easy. You can even set up fingerprint or face ID, for quicker access!

The app should take up around 90MB of space on an Android phone, or 100MB on an iOS.

If you have multiple energy accounts that are linked to the same email address, then yes! You’ll be able to choose from your accounts when you log into the app using that email address.

Head to the Payments tab.

Then, in the My payment details section, you should see your current Direct Debit amount, with the word Change beside it.

Press Change. On the next screen, you’ll see both your current Direct Debit amount, and the amount that we recommend you should change it to. You can increase this amount whenever you’d like. You can also reduce it, but only to the minimum recommended amount. This is to protect you from building up a negative balance. Find out more about how Direct Debits work here.

When you’re ready, enter the amount you’d like to change the Direct Debit to, and press Change my Direct Debit. Then, to confirm the change, press Let’s Go!
