On the 1st of every month, Flonidan gas smart meters complete an automated remote safety check. During this check the gas supply is switched off for a couple of seconds.
Sometimes, these particular meters will fail to turn the gas supply back on due to a firmware issue, resulting in customers’ gas not returning to their homes. Flonidan meters usually have a serial number starting with ‘G4F…’.
We’re sorry if this has happened to you. We’re working with the meter manufacturer to avoid this happening in future.
If you think your meter has been impacted by this issue, please follow the steps in the video below to switch your gas supply back on.

First check that your boiler and other gas appliances, such as hob or fire, aren’t currently demanding gas. This could include turning off your heating, making sure your thermostat is turned down, and that you have no hot water running.
If you Pay As You Go for your gas, check that you have credit on your gas meter - otherwise the next step won’t work.
Press the 'A' button on your gas meter and follow the instructions on the screen.
Some appliances may need to be reset once your gas is back on - such as your boiler. Please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions when doing this.
