Smart charging means we can charge your EV at low-demand times, helping balance the grid. The compensation we get from this, we can then pass on the savings to you. In exchange for flexibility, you get a great 7p per kWh rate, it’s a win-win.
Charge Anytime works by charging your car at times when there’s more renewable energy on the grid.
To get the Charge Anytime rate you need to set your ‘ready by’ time. If you don’t set your ‘ready by’ time, you’ll be charged at your standard home tariff rate.
Charge Anytime will communicate with your EV to see what level of charge you currently have. It’ll also communicate with the grid to calculate the greenest times to charge.
You’ll see that Charge Anytime starts and stops charging during your EV charging window. This is completely normal and works in line with the grid's demand. Your car will still be charged by the ready-by-time you set.
If you need to charge your car in a hurry, you can bypass smart charge and choose ‘urgent charge’ in your app. This will be charged at your standard home tariff rate.
You can override your smart charging schedule at any time by choosing urgent charge. This will let you top-up quickly when you need to, at your standard home electricity rate.
The next time you charge, you’ll automatically go back to your smart charging schedule.
You can log into Charge Anytime on multiple devices. You can do this by logging into the new device using the same details associated with your existing account.
Please be careful when sharing login details with other people or devices.
If you connect via your EV you’ll need to reset your charger when you charge a different car. To charge multiple cars, you need to unplug your EV charger from any EV for 15 mins to allow it to reset.
This applies to Charge Anytime set up with Indra, Hypervolt or Andersen integrations.
The minimum charge feature was designed for people who want their EV to be charged by a certain percentage as soon as they plug it in.
If you set the minimum charge to 50% and connect your car with its battery percentage at 35%, Charge Anytime will instantly start charging the EV until the battery is at the minimum charge level of 50%.
This will override any schedule you’ve set. For example, if you've scheduled your car to charge at 7pm, but you plug it in at 6pm and its battery is below the minimum charge, Charge Anytime will start charging to get it to the minimum charge level. Because the schedule has been overridden, the charging done in this period (in this case 15%) will be at your standard electricity unit rate, rather than the 7p per kWh Charge Anytime rate.
Once the battery has reached the minimum charge level of 50%, it’ll then charge at 7p/kWh until the maximum charge level is hit.
If you don’t want to trigger minimum charge, set your minimum charge to 10%.
