If you’re moving home, here’s what you need to know about your smart meter and In-Home Display.
Do I leave my smart meter behind when I move out?
Yes – your smart meter stays behind when you move. It’s installed for the property, not the household, so it belongs to the home you’re leaving. On the day you move out, we’ll automatically take a final meter reading.
What do I do with my In-Home Display (IHD) when I move out?
Please leave your IHD at your old home, so the new householder or tenant can use it. IHDs are paired with the specific smart meter they came with, so it won’t work if you remove it. Leave it somewhere easy to find for whoever’s moving in.
Moving into your new home
If you're an OVO customer and your new home doesn’t have a smart meter, you can book an appointment via your online account. If your new home already has a smart meter but you can’t find the IHD, please contact us and we’ll send you a new one.
