Why British energy consumers do not trust the big six companies

By OVO Energy Thursday 21 July 2011

Commenting on this morning’s half-yearly results from Scottish Power’s parent company Iberdrola, Stephen Fitzpatrick, Founder and Managing Director of OVO Energy, the top ranked energy supplier in a recent Which? customer survey, said:

“Consumers will never trust energy companies so long as they can’t see where their money is going. Scottish Power’s results are typically opaque – hidden within the figures of its foreign parent company. We want to see Ofgem and the Government doing more to stop the Big 6 providers from taking advantage of their customers.  More transparency and competition are needed to keep a lid on energy bills.”
