One Year Free Energy Prize Draw Terms and Conditions

1. About this Offer

The Offer is a competition offering eligible customers an entry into a prize draw (The Draw) to win one (1) year's free energy, up to  a maximum value of £1,758 (“The Prize”). 

The competition will be open between 16 February 2026 and 16 March 2026 inclusive (“The Offer Period”). The closing date for entries is 16 March 2026 at 23:59.

The Draw will take place within 10 days of The Offer ending. The winner will be notified by phone call and/or email.

2. Eligibility

2.1 To be eligible for The Offer, you’ll need to:

• be an existing OVO energy customer who pays by Direct Debit or on receipt of their bill (not available to pre-payment customers);

• have a traditional meter or smart meter (not available to Economy 7, Economy 9 or Economy 10 customers, or any other meter type);

• have an electricity only or dual fuel fixed tariff that’s ending in the next 49 days, or on our standard variable tariff; and

• take a new Fixed tariff contract during the Offer Period (not if you sign up by email - see 2.2 below for more details).

2.2 You won’t be eligible if you email us to request a Fixed tariff contract. You’ll need to call, use our mobile app, log in to My Account or use our Chat Bot to take a new fixed tariff contract.  

2.3 Only one entry into The Draw is permitted per household.

3. Prize Draw Details

3.1 At the end of The Offer Period, you’ll automatically be entered into the prize draw if you have taken a new fixed tariff contract during The Offer Period.

3.2 The Draw will be conducted within 10 days of The Offer ending.

3.3 A random computer process will carry out The Draw.

3.4 One (1) customer will win The Prize.

3.5 If you’d like to opt-out of The Offer, please contact us at [email protected] with your full name and account number. This mailbox isn’t monitored and cannot be responded from.

4. Prize

4.1 If you’re the winner, you’ll be contacted by phone and/or email. If you don’t have a valid email address on your account, we’ll attempt to call you a further two (2) times If we can’t get a hold of you, you’ll still receive The Prize.  

4.2 Prize draw results and the name and county of the prize winner will be available after 31 March 2026 by emailing [email protected]. If you’re the winner, you can object to your surname and/or county being published by emailing us at [email protected] by 31 March 2026. We may still have to provide them to regulators (such as the Advertising Standard Agency).

If you have both gas and electricity supply with us

4.3 The Prize is one (1) year’s free energy, up to a maximum value of £1,758.

This value is based on Ofgem’s average Energy Price Cap for January-March 2026 for a typical household who use electricity and gas and pay by Direct Debit. It assumes a 2-3 bedroom house, with 2 to 3 occupants using 11,500 kWh gas and 2,700 kWh electricity per year based on the England, Scotland and Wales average and includes 5% VAT.  

4.4 If your energy usage is higher than this average, the £1,758 credit may not cover an entire year of energy costs.

4.5 The Prize will be paid as an energy bill credit in 12 monthly instalments of £146.50. Example: if you win a year's free energy in March 2026, the first credit would be applied to your bill in April 2026 and each following month up to the last payment in April 2027.

If you have only an electricity supply with us

4.6 The Prize is one (1) year’s free electricity, set at a maximum of £903.

This value is based on Ofgem’s average Energy Price Cap for January-March 2026 for a typical household who use electricity and pay by Direct Debit. It assumes a 2-3 bedroom house, with 2 to 3 occupants using 2,700 kWh electricity per year based on the England, Scotland and Wales average and includes 5% VAT.  

4.7 If your energy usage is higher than average or if the Price Cap rises beyond current forecasts, the £903 credit may not cover an entire year of energy costs.

4.8 The Prize will be paid as an energy bill credit in 12 monthly instalments of £76. Example: if you win a year's free energy in March 2026, the first credit would be applied to your bill in April 2026 and each following month up to the last payment in April 2027.

4.9  The credit will show as a separate line item on your bill, as Free Energy Credit.

4.10 If you pay by Direct Debit, you‘ll need to continue to pay by Direct Debit and the amount you pay per month won’t change. 

4.11 There’s no cash alternative and you won’t be able to withdraw this credit directly to your bank account.

4.12 If your account has a negative balance, any credit paid will first be used to clear any outstanding money owed.

5. If you leave OVO or move home

Leaving OVO

5.1 You’re free to switch to another energy supplier at any time (unless there’s a debt on your account, in which case we may stop your switch until the money is paid). If you leave during the Offer Period, you won’t be eligible for the Prize Draw.

5.2 If you’re the winner of the Prize, and switch to another energy supplier any time before April 2027, you won't receive any remaining credits from the month you leave.

Moving Home

5.4 If you’re the winner of the Prize and move home before April 2027, you’ll continue to be eligible for the Prize credits as set out in these terms. Your new home will need to be supplied by OVO to be eligible. Please give us a call when you’re in your new home, so we can ensure your credits are still set up.

6. Changes to the Offer or these Terms

6.1 We reserve the right to amend the Offer at any time. We’ll provide you with reasonable notice before making any detrimental change to The Offer.

7. Ending these Terms

7.1 By participating in The Offer, you agree to comply with these Terms. We may remove or temporarily suspend your access to the Offer if we reasonably suspect any breach of these Terms, the Fixed Tariff terms, or our Core Terms.

7.2 If we deem a participant is ineligible for any reason, we reserve the right to cancel or recover any Prize credit already awarded.

8. General

Alternative Prize

8.1 If circumstances beyond our reasonable control prevent us from awarding The Prize, or if we deem it appropriate (at our discretion), we reserve the right to provide an alternative prize of similar nature and equivalent value, or at our sole discretion, the cash value of The Prize.

8.2 These Terms are subject to English Law and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England unless you’re a resident of Scotland, in which case you may also bring proceedings in Scotland.
