If you’re switching from another energy supplier to OVO, or applying to renew your current OVO energy plan, you’ll always be able to benefit from a 14-day cooling-off period. During that time you can change your mind and stop the switch or renewal whenever you want.
In fact, whichever energy suppliers you’re switching from or to, you should always be offered this opportunity to stop the process if you decide you no longer want to go ahead.
The 14-day period begins as soon as you start the switching process or agree to renew your energy plan. If you change your mind during this time, give us a call right away. We’re here from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays.
If you’re switching to one of our monthly payment energy plans (Better, Greener or Simpler), contact us on 0800 5999 440.
If you’re switching to one of our Pay As You Go plans, please call us on 0800 358 3523.
After the cooling-off period, you can still leave us – but we can’t stop the switching process as it has already started. You’ll need to choose another new supplier and start switching all over again.
If you change your mind during your cooling-off period, you don’t need to pay any exit fees.
However, once you’re past the 14-day period, you may have to pay these charges if you’re on one of our fixed-rate plans (Better, Greener, Smart PAYG+ Fixed and Traditional PAYG Fixed). If you decide to switch to a different OVO plan, or to move away from us altogether before the end of your contract, we may have to charge you £30 per fuel. So that could be a total of £60 for changing your mind.
If you’re on one of our variable rate plans (Simpler, Smart PAYG+ or Traditional PAYG), you can move to another OVO plan or another supplier whenever you want, without paying exit fees. That’s because you’re not tied into a 12-month contract.
You can also upgrade your plan from Better to Greener, or from Simpler to either Better or Greener, without paying any exit fees.
