The idea is really simple. Working with our charitable partner, The Conservation Volunteers, OVO is aiming to plant over 250,000 deciduous trees in community green spaces across the UK. That’s places like schools, parks, river banks and shared spaces – basically, anywhere that will benefit from an injection of volunteer care and new green shoots.
Everyone who’s signed up for our Greener Energy plan gets 100% renewable electricity – and supports our I Dig Trees programme. Because of these brilliant Greener Energy customers, we are aiming to plant over 250,000 by April 2017.
The Conservation Volunteers and local volunteer organisations will be getting out ad about in communities UK-wide, improving green spaces and planting thousands of trees.
Then it’s up to the trees to do their thing and grow! They will all be UK-native deciduous species and each will absorb about 1 tonne of carbon in its lifetime.
If you’re not already, consider going Greener to support I Dig Trees.
Because of all our brilliant Greener Energy customers, we’ll be aiming to plant 250,000 trees this year – but just imagine how many more it could be next year. 450,000? 600,000? 1 million? It’s up to you.
