Where will OVO plant trees?

If you want to know more about locations we’ll be planting saplings through OVO’s I Dig Trees planting scheme, you’re in the right place.

Thanks to our Greener Energy customers, we’ll be supporting The Conservation Volunteers to plant over 250,000 trees by April 2017.

When it comes to the specific locations, our boots on the ground, hands in the mud partners, The Conservation Volunteers, will choose planting sites that have the most need and where the trees will be happiest.

Perfect places to plant
The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) are experts when it comes to finding green spaces to plant – and urban spots are top of the list. That’s because these places make the greatest difference to local communities.

TCV get to work planting trees in places like:

  • Local primary schools.
  • Old people’s homes.
  • Housing association land.
  • Common land with no registered owner.
  • Local secondary school or adult education colleges.
  • Parks, in partnership with local authorities.
  • Private land that offers public access - for instance, popular footpaths, with the landowner's consent.
  • The edges of sports grounds.
  • Roundabouts and traffic islands.

Wondering... ‘can I choose which trees are planted’?

Unfortunately not. This is because our partners are experts when it comes to cultivating trees. They’ll assess what’s suitable for each site, so the trees in our urban forest ‘like’ their locations, and grow more successfully. You can find out more about the varieties of trees we’ll plant here.
