As soon as your generator has been installed, you’ll need to fill in our FIT Sign up form.
The start date for your payments will be the day we receive this completed application, so it’s important you get this to us as soon as you can.
We’ll pay your FIT directly into a bank account of your choice. We can’t pay by cheque, into a building society or directly into your OVO account.
We’ll pay it once a quarter, in February, May, August, and November, after we’ve received your generation meter readings.
We work out your FIT payment based on the tariffs you’re given when you first sign up and the meter readings you provide. The FIT pays you for 100% of the units you generate, plus 50% of this again to cover the units you may have exported (you get 75% if you have a hydro system).
Yes, your FIT payments are adjusted every year to allow for inflation, in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI). For a full list of tariff tables, please visit Ofgem’s website.
We need meter readings from your generation meter in March, June, September and December. We’ll email you to remind you at the start of these months. You can give us your readings by calling us on 0800 408 6622 (we’re here from 9am until 5pm, Monday to Friday) or emailing FITdata@ovoenergy.com.
You won’t get a quarterly payment in that period, but as long as you provide a reading for us next time we’ll make sure you’re paid the full amount for what you’ve generated. So it’ll just be backdated to the next time we pay.
We’ll make sure your payment reaches you as soon as Ofgem has agreed the funds for each supplier. This normally takes around 8 weeks after the end of the meter-reading month. As long as you give us your generation meter readings, your payment months will be May, August, November and February.
