Our most recent fixed price change was a 8.7% increase for gas and electricity on 00.01am Thursday 3rd November 2016 and follows a steady increase in the wholesale commodity costs for both gas and electricity.
These changes affected all new and renewing customers, signing up or re-fixing, on any of our fixed plans (Better Energy, Greener Energy or 2 Year Fixed Energy).
On 21st November 2016 we announced that we are increasing our Pay Monthly Simpler (variable) tariff rates with effect from 00.01am Tuesday 10th January 2017 this is due to a steady increase in wholesale commodity costs for both electricity. These changes only affect customers who’ve chosen or rolled onto our variable rate plan (Simpler Energy).
If you’re brand new to OVO, you’ll get these new prices when you sign up to any of our fixed plans (Better Energy, Greener Energy and 2 Year Fixed Energy) on or after 00.01am Thursday 3rd November 2016.
If you’re already with us on a fixed plan, this price change won’t affect you as you’ll have already fixed your prices. But if you’re coming to the end of your plan, and want to re-fix (on or after 00.01am Thursday 3rd November 2016), we’ll give you a quote based on these new prices when it’s time to renew.
If you’ve had your renewal letter you can still get these prices, so long as you get in touch before your old plan ends. This is called our Price Promise (find out more in What happens when it's time to renew my contract?) And, if you’re a variable rate customer (new or existing), you won’t be affected by the price change.
Why don't you tell your existing customers when there’s a price change?
When we change our prices, we do our best to make sure you hear about it by updating our website. As we're quite a small business, it would be very time-consuming and expensive to contact all our customers every time prices change. In fact, it would increase our costs and make it harder for us to make sure our customers get low prices all year round.
