Charge Anytime solar trial: Terms and Conditions

In addition to the standard Charge Anytime terms and conditions, you must agree to the following in order to participate in the Charge Anytime solar trial.

 1. Agreement

1.1 These Charge Anytime add-on terms and conditions (the Terms) form the agreement between you and us:

(a) “You” are the person who has signed up to the Charge Anytime solar trial;

(b) “OVO”, “we”, “us” or “our” is OVO Energy Limited. Our address is 1 Rivergate, Temple Quay, Bristol, United Kingdom, BS1 6ED.

These Terms are specific to the Charge Anytime solar trial. They are separate to the OVO Core Terms and Conditions (Core Terms), the Charge Anytime add-on Terms and Conditions, and any specific terms which may apply to the tariff you are on and apply in addition to these terms.

 2. Charge Anytime solar trial

2.1 By accepting this agreement, you agree to participate in the trial. The trial will last for the 3 month trial period, unless it is terminated earlier by you or us in accordance with these terms and conditions.

2.2 You accept that this is a trial offering, and that the purpose of the trial is to assess the viability and effectiveness of providing the Charge Anytime add-on to households that have solar installations. As such, you accept that the Charge Anytime add-on may not operate properly or be fully functional, for which neither we, nor our partners will be liable.  (But if any of these arise, we'll try to minimise their impact on you).

2.3 We may change this agreement at any time or stop the trial (or any part of it). You will be notified 30 days in advance via e-mail or post before we make any changes.

2.4. You may terminate your participation in the trial at any time in accordance with clause 9 of the Charge Anytime add-on terms and conditions and you agree to provide OVO & Kaluza with feedback and the factors that led to you terminating your participation.

2.5 You agree to let the OVO Group (including OVO & Kaluza) collect data about your experience during the trial, and to contact you about your experience during and after the trial period.  You agree to respond to any reasonable request for feedback.

2.6 This trial will automatically end on 1 December 2023, and the Charge Anytime add-on will be removed from your account.  You agree that OVO may contact you with details of any replacement Charge Anytime add-on offer.

3. How it works

3.1 The Charge Anytime solar trial will include solar generation in smart charging optimisation decisions where this is relevant. This means that a prediction of your household solar generation will be factored into other criteria when optimising how to charge your EV, however other criteria may supercede the use of your household’s solar generation in order to charge your vehicle. This prediction will be based on the information that you provided to us in your application.

3.2 We are unable to control the rate at which your EV charges, or the amount of solar generation that is being produced. As such, your EV may be charged with a combination of solar and grid energy - even when solar is being used to charge your vehicle.

3.3 Where the algorithm does not anticipate that your solar installation will provide enough energy to charge your vehicle, you will be charged for the energy that is used to top this up. For example, if your solar array is predicted to be generating 3 kW while your vehicle is charging at a rate of 7 kW - you will be charged for the 4 kWh being consumed from the grid.

3.4 Energy used to charge your EV that is not being provided by your solar installation will be charged in accordance with clause 4 of the Charge Anytime Add-on Terms and Conditions.

3.5 Energy generation from your solar array will be estimated using an algorithm developed by Kaluza. This trial will help to validate the effectiveness of this algorithm, and no guarantees can be made as to the accuracy that will be realised.

4. Eligibility

4.1 To be eligible for the Charge Anytime add-on solar trial you must meet the General Charge Anytime criteria, in addition to the following criteria (Eligibility Criteria):

You must have a compatible solar installation installed on your premises, and agree to allow the OVO Group (including OVO & Kaluza) to collect data about this installation and the way in which it charges your vehicle. This includes, but is not limited to usage patterns and system output of the installation.

You agree to let the OVO Group (including OVO & Kaluza) collect data about your consumption and usage patterns in order to deliver this service to you.

You agree to let the OVO Group (including OVO & Kaluza) to contact you about your experience during and after this trial in order to collect feedback, and to improve the user experience.
