Terms and conditions for Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime - Summer Trial
Introduction
These terms and conditions (the Terms) apply to ‘Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime’ (Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime). Please read these Terms carefully. These Terms are in addition to, and don’t replace, our Core Energy Supply Terms and Conditions (Core Terms) or any other terms which may apply to your OVO plan and the CrowdFlex Trial Terms.
All defined terms in the Core Terms or CrowdFlex Trial Terms will have the same meaning when used in these terms unless otherwise stated.
1. About Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime
1.1 OVO is taking part in CrowdFlex, an OFGEM funded project, running a series of trials from May 2024 until December 2025. The trials are aimed at understanding how households can contribute to a greener electricity grid (CrowdFlex). Customers who have an EV and charge through Charge Antime, wanting to take part in CrowdFlex, must sign up to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime.
These terms are for the 2nd trial of Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, running from July 2025 to October 2025.
In Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, OVO are rewarding customers for simply plugging in your EV as often, and for as long as you can. Longer smart-charging windows typically give us more opportunity to charge your EV at times when the grid is likely to be greenest, as well as in response to grid balancing events. And your EV will always be charged and ready for when you need it.
When you sign up to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, we’ll let you know what action to take and how you’ll be rewarded.
Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime rewards are different from rewards from Power Move Flex events (Power Up and Power Down), you can’t earn rewards in both. By taking part and earning rewards in Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, you won’t earn rewards for any Power Move Flex events we may optimise your charging around.
How does my charging work with Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime?
1.2 Our smart tech aims to charge your EV when demand is low and there’s more renewable electricity on the grid. By plugging in for longer, there’s more time to optimise your charging. Meaning it’s less likely your car will be charged with power from fossil fuels.
1.3 Keep your car plugged in for as long and as often as you can. This gives us a bigger charging window and more opportunities to charge your EV at greener times of the day.
1.4 You can earn rewards based on how often you plug in, and stay plugged in for (see section 4)
How can I join Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime?
1.5 You can join Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime if you’re an OVO customer, charge your EV with Charge Anytime, with a smart meter that’s sending half-hourly readings and meet the Eligibility Criteria (see section 2).
We’ll be inviting customers to sign up via email from May 2025. You may also get a notification to opt in, or be auto-enrolled from one series of events to another.
You can also sign up through the Charge Anytime app, just tap the banner in the app and fill out your details.
2. Eligibility
2.1 To be eligible for Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
- have the OVO Charge Anytime add on and manage your smart charging through the Charge Anytime app
- have a communicating electricity smart meter that is a credit meter
- have a smart meter that is single rate (meaning you only pay a single, flat rate for your electricity) or economy-7
- opt in to half-hourly meter readings
- have an active email address
- have OVO as your energy provider
- follow with these Terms and the Core Terms, and Charge Anytime Terms
2.2 Unfortunately there may be some types of smart meters or EV chargers that won’t work with Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime. If you have an ineligible meter you won’t be able to join.
2.3 If you control your charging via a third party app, unfortunately you won’t be able to join.
2.4 If at any time you fail to meet the Eligibility Criteria, including no longer opting in to get emails about Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, email marketing consent or half-hourly meter readings, then we reserve the right to end your participation in Power Move Flex and you won’t get any Power Move Flex credit.
3. How does Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime work?
3.1 Use Charge Anytime as you normally would through the Charge Anytime app.
3.2 Keep your car plugged in for as long and as often as you can. This gives us a bigger charging window and more opportunities to charge your EV at greener times of the day.
3.3 We’ll reward you based on how many qualifying sessions you plug in for across the week. A qualifying session counts as 6 continuous hours.
3.4 If your EV charger or compatible EV goes offline at any point for any reason, or if you’re disconnected for any reason, we won't be able to record plug-in duration during this time. This means your total Power Move Flex credits may be affected.
Charging during Power Up and Power Down events
3.5 Part of the Crowdflex trial is to learn how EVs are able to help during periods of high stress/demand on the grid. We'll therefore participate in Power Up and Power Down events where possible when your EV is plugged in.
3.6 By signing up to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, you’ll be opting in to allow OVO to optimise your charging in line with all Power Up and Power Down events, through Charge Anytime.
3.7 Participants won’t be notified of when the Power up and Power Down events will be occurring, (including those that fall within the charging schedule). Charge Anytime will still deliver the required quantity of energy at the ready-by-time set by the user.
3.8 Your EV may not be charged in line with Power Up and Power Down events. This will depend on external factors, such as if your car is plugged in, energy market prices, your charging schedule etc.
You'll get a reward for plugging your vehicle in and allowing OVO to optimise your charging during Power Up and Power Down events. You won’t be rewarded for participation in these events.
Changes to Ready By Time
3.9 Some customers may be asked to move their ready-by-time to help support the grid even further, potentially where there may be increased demand within your charging period. By extending your ready-by-time, you’re giving OVO more time to optimise the charging of your vehicle and avoid potential higher demand periods.
3.10 You may be able to earn a reward for doing so, and we’ll let you know this along with what criteria you need to hit to earn a reward, in the email we send you asking if you can, to extend your ready-by-time.
3.11 To qualify for a reward, if there is one available, you’ll need to unplug your EV after your new ready-by-time. If you plug out before, you won’t qualify for a reward.
3.12 Any rewards for changes to your ready-by-time will be in addition to rewards received from plug-in sessions.
4. Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime Rewards
4.1 As Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime is part of the CrowdFlex trial, we’re testing multiple ways a customer can earn rewards for helping manage demand on the grid.
4.2 Your total reward will depend on the reward group you are randomly placed into and how many plug in sessions you complete during the week.
4.3 Before the trial begins, you will be randomly placed into a trial group. Your trial group determines how you will be rewarded.
4.4 Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime customers will be paid based on the number of plug in sessions you do per week.
4.5 A session is defined by:
- Being plugged in for 6 hours, continually
- Our session counter runs from midday to midday
4.6 You can only record 1 session in the same 24 hour period towards a Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime reward. Multiple sessions in the same cycle won’t be counted as additional and only the first session will be counted.
4.7 Our reward counter runs midday Sunday to midday Sunday and will count sessions within each 7 day period. The reward counter will run from the first Monday to the last Sunday of each month, if there are a few days left of the month after the final Sunday they will be included in the following month's reward counter.
How your reward is paid
4.8 The reward is applied as credit directly to your bill.
4.9 You’ll be credited each month with the sum of all rewards earned in the previous month. For example, for any rewards earned in July, you’ll get energy credit in August.
4.10 If you pay by Direct Debit, the Direct Debit amount you pay per month won’t change. The energy credit will show as a separate line item on your bill.
4.11 If your account has a negative balance, any reward paid will be used to pay off what’s owed.
4.12 There’s no cash alternative to the reward, and it’ll be paid as energy credit on your bill only.
4.13 If we’re unable to collect plug in data from your EV charger for 3 days after the reward counter resets, you won’t be able to receive a reward as we won’t have the data we need to correctly calculate your plug in session.
What happens if I don’t meet the criteria to receive a reward?
4.14 You won’t be eligible to receive any reward for an event if you don’t plug in your EV.
4.15 You won’t be eligible to receive any reward for an event if you don’t plug in your EV for enough qualifying sessions.
4.16 If your smart meter isn’t communicating you won’t be able to receive a reward. This is because we won’t have the data we need to correctly calculate your energy usage.
4.17 There’s no guarantee that you’ll earn a minimum reward amount from taking part in Trial 2 and Power Move Flex.
5. How does Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime work with Power Move?
5.1 Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime is designed to reward customers just for plugging in your EV for longer, to help us better manage demand on the grid.
5.2 Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime is in addition to other energy flexibility schemes at OVO such as Power Move. This allows you to unlock more savings off your energy bill by helping us optimise your charging even better.
5.3 You’re able to sign up to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime alongside Power Move, either taking part in both schemes or only in one. Any rewards earned from Power Move Flex will be in addition to the rewards earned in Power Move.
5.4 Power Move and Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime are separate offerings. Any bill credits earned through the trial will appear as a separate line item on your bill.
6. Ending your participation in Power Move Flex
6.1 You can opt out of Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime at any time by pressing the opt out button on any email you’ve received relating to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime.
6.2 To opt out of Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime emails, you’d have to opt out of the Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime trial, completely. There’s no penalty for not taking part.
6.3 If you’re on Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, and you remove the Charge Anytime add on, you’ll be removed from Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime. We’re unable to transfer you over to Power Up and Power Down events.
If you switch away
6.4 You’re free to switch away at any time (unless you owe us money, in which case we may stop your switch until the money is paid). If you switch away at any point when you’re signed up to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, we’ll end your participation in Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime and you won’t receive any Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime credit accrued from the last time you were credited up to and including your switch date. You’ll find further information about switching away from OVO in our Core Terms.
If you move home
6.5 If you move home at any point whilst signed up to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, we’ll be unable to sign you back up
When we can terminate your participation in Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime
6.6 If you don’t comply with these Terms or our Core Terms, including where you don’t pay your bills or if you no longer meet any of our Eligibility Criteria, we reserve the right to end your participation in Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime. This would happen with immediate effect and you’ll no longer be eligible to receive the energy credit for any plug in sessions you’ve completed.
7. Changes to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime
7.1 We can make changes to these Terms at any time. These changes may include, but are not limited to, changing the amount of energy credit payable, amending or withdrawing Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, or reducing the time Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime is available for.
Where we make any changes that affect you negatively, we’ll give you reasonable notice. We reserve the right to refuse access to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime at our sole discretion, even where you meet the Eligibility Criteria.

9. Contacting You
9.1 By signing up to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime, you’re agreeing to receive communications in relation to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime for the entirety of the time you’re opted in (unless you later choose to opt out of Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime). It’s your responsibility to make sure your email address is kept up to date in order to receive our emails. If you need to change your email address or mobile number, you can do this in your online account.
9.2 We may share your contact details (name and email address) with our trusted third-party research agency partners, as mentioned in our Privacy Policy. This is so they can contact you for feedback on your experience of Power Up and Power Down events. Your data won’t be used for marketing purposes unless you’ve opted in to receive marketing from us.
10. General
10.1 We won’t be liable for any loss or damage you may suffer as a result of your participation in Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime where such loss or damage can’t be excluded by law.
10.2 These Terms are governed by English Law and any dispute arising in relation to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
