How theZEB works

Think of the ZEB like a battery. It charges up using greener
electricity so it’s ready to heat your home when you need it.

Designed by low carbon heating experts, tepeo, this heat battery boiler
is quick and easy to install, and even works with your existing heating
system. Day to day, it acts just like your current boiler, so you won’t see
a difference in your heating or hot water.

Unlike a heat pump, you don’t need any outdoor space. Just a solid,
level surface, ideally on the ground floor. The ZEB costs £6,000,
not including installation. You can find out more about installation costs by visiting tepeo’s website.

Check if the ZEBis right for you

You use the right amount of energy

The ZEB is a great fit if heating your home uses 3,000 to 12,000kWh of energy a year. This is usually a 2-3 bed home, but every home’s unique. Find out how much yours uses on your energy or fuel bill.

You have a hot water tank

Or you’re happy to have one fitted before you install a ZEB. You also need a “wet” heating system (radiators or under floor heating).

You have a level surface to install it on

You have space for a ZEB on a solid, level, and accessible surface. This is usually on the ground floor, but every home is different. You can discuss your home layout with tepeo.

There are a few things you’ll need to check to make sure it’s right for your home:

A ZEB costs £6000 excluding installation. You can speak to a tepeoPRO installer to get a quote specific to your home. First, use tepeo’s online check to see if the ZEB’s right for you

Helping more homes get lower carbon heat

tepeo launched the ZEB in 2021 to bring smart, lower carbon heating
to more homes.

With a growing network of installers, and great reviews
on Trustpilot, tepeo makes switching to a ZEB quick and simple.

Tried and tested

In 2022, OVO teamed up with tepeo and UK Power Networks to find
out how heat batteries could bring us closer to zero carbon heating.

28 households had a ZEB installed as part of the Neat Heat trial.
They were also given an exclusive add-on by OVO, so they could
charge their ZEB at a lower rate – cutting their running costs.

Important information

  1. The tepeo ZEB aims to charge up when the grid has more renewable energy in it. This means it’s less likely your ZEB will use energy from fossil fuels.
