OVO’s Standard Variable tariff - Simpler Energy - offers flexibility with no fixed term and no exit fees, which is ideal if you want freedom to switch anytime.
The 1 Year Fixed tariff locks in your rates for 12 months, protecting you from price rises and giving you budget certainty. If you prefer to know what you’re paying over a longer period, OVO also offers a 2 Year Fixed tariff.

Switching to OVO is simple and takes about 2-3 weeks from start to finish.
To get started, enter your details to get a quote and choose the best tariff for you. We will handle everything else, from contacting your old supplier to moving your supply to OVO.
Your energy supply stays on throughout the switch with no interruption.
You'll need a meter reading on your switch date (or your smart meter will send this automatically if you have one). Once your switch is complete, you'll get access to the OVO app where you can manage your account, send readings, and track your energy use.
Our Standard Variable tariff has no exit fees so you can leave, or switch plans anytime, without paying anything. Our fixed tariffs charge exit fees if you leave before your contract ends. The exit fee you’ll pay depends on which tariff you signed up to.
No exit fees apply during the last 53 days of your contract, giving you a fee-free switching window. We'll let you know when this starts, so you can choose the new tariff that’s best for you.
You can add Charge Anytime to any pay monthly OVO tariff.
You'll need to be an OVO customer who pays by direct debit and have a smart meter sending half-hourly readings. You'll also need a compatible electric vehicle or EV charger.
Once you meet these requirements, simply choose to add either a Charge Anytime monthly plan or pay as you go charging via your online account, or the OVO app. Find out more about Charge Anytime here.
Ofgem, the government’s energy regulator sets a limit) on what suppliers can charge for each unit of gas and electricity on variable tariffs. The energy price cap doesn’t affect fixed tariffs.
The price cap is reviewed every 3 months (January, April, July, October) and protects customers from excessive pricing. If you're on OVO's Standard Variable tariff, Simpler Energy, your rates will be in line with the price cap. This means that your bills could go up or down when the price cap changes.
Fixed tariffs are not affected by the price cap. Your rates stay the same for the length of your fixed energy tariff, giving you protection from price rises.

5 Fixed energy prices and greener electricity: Our 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity tariff includes our Greener Electricity upgrade, which brings you 100% renewable electricity from traceable sources. While the electricity that powers your home comes from a mix of sources, we buy the same amount of renewable electricity to balance this all out. So for all the electricity you use, we’ll feed the same amount back into the grid from green sources.
6 Actual sum is £460. When you add a Charge Anytime monthly plan to your home tariff, your home energy rate will stay the same, but your EV charging will be charged separately at one fixed monthly cost including both your home and public charging miles.
The £460 saving is based on a Charge Anytime customer signing up to the Premium Monthly Plan and using 12,000 miles a year of home charging and 600 miles on the road using public charging networks compared to a customer charging their home miles at OVO's UK average SVT rate of 26.34p per kWh and their public miles at an average Charge Point Operator rate of 80p per kWh. The Premium Monthly Plan has a monthly cost of £37.50 which includes both the home and public charging mileage. Mileage is calculated at an efficiency of 4 miles per kWh. Actual savings will vary depending on vehicle efficiency, driving style, EV charging usage, the cost per kWh of your standard home energy tariff and the rate you pay on public Charge Point Operator networks.
7 These annual energy savings are dependent on your property type and location, roof type, slope and size. If your roof is shaded or isn't south facing, figures are likely to be lower. We based the figure on the following: a) You have 12 (440W) solar panels and a 9.5 kWh battery installed b) You’re home all day with an annual electricity consumption of 2,700 kWh (Ofgem). You currently pay our Standard Variable Rate of 27.30p (correct at 1 April 2025) and will use 51% of what you generate c) You sign up for our exclusive SEG rate (20p kWh) for customers who purchase solar and a battery from us, and you sell back the remaining 49% of energy generated. You’ll get a more accurate savings estimation once we’ve surveyed your property.
