Points App FAQs
1. Who can join Beyond Points?
It is open to Beyond customers who meet all of the following criteria:
a) Must be an OVO energy customer (dual fuel or electricity only)
b) Use the OVO app
c) Be a customer with Beyond
d) Have a functional electricity smart meter installed
e) Pay your energy bills via monthly Direct Debit
f) Must opt in to half hourly meter reads and half hourly settlement
g) Cannot be on a multi-rate tariff
If you stop meeting any and all of the eligibility criteria, we might lock your points wallet until you are eligible again. If your points wallet is locked you won’t be able to earn or redeem points. Your points will remain in your wallet until they expire or you are eligible for the Beyond Points programme again. Full terms apply.
2. How do I earn points?
There are two ways initially to earn points and build up your balance:
Welcome points, you will earn one-off welcome points when you go through the Beyond Points welcome journey (100 points) and when you sign up to join Power Move (150 points).
Power Move, you will earn points by shifting your energy usage out of peak times (4pm- 7pm Monday to Friday). The number of points you earn depends on the amount of energy you shift. If you can use 85% or more of your total electricity per month during these off-peak times, you'll earn points for each month you achieve this. Find out more about Power Move.
3. How do I redeem my points? And what are they worth?
You can spend/redeem your points in two ways.
Free hours of electricity - a free hour of electricity will cost 200 points. Once you have enough points in your wallet, you can select your hours within the app. You can start to claim free hours as soon as you have 200 points in your wallet.
The free hours of electricity are designed for everyday household use rather than EV’s/Batteries/Heat pumps. Energy consumed by a home EV charger, in-home battery or heat pump will be charged at your standard unit rate.
Bill credits - you can redeem your points on bill credit. 2,000 points = £2 bill credit. You need at least 2,000 points in your wallet before you can redeem for credit, the minimum redemption option is £2.
Once you redeem your points on either free electricity or bill credit, this will be paid back in the form of a bill credit. As you earn/collect points in different ways, these will show as separate line items on your bill. For example:

4. How does free electricity work?
Once you have points in your wallet (minimum 200) you can use these on free hours of electricity:
Pick your hour within the app, there will be a monthly window for you to choose your hour(s) of choice, from a range of times.
Up to 1.5 kWh of electricity is free, each free hour covers the first 1.5 kWh you use in that hour. Anything above 1.5 kWh in the hour is charged at your normal rate. The free electricity applies to your unit rate, you’ll still pay your full standing charge.
The free hours of electricity are designed for everyday household use rather than EVs/Batteries/Heat pumps. Energy consumed by a home EV charger, in-home battery or heat pump will be charged at your standard unit rate.
Your free hours of electricity will show up as a credit on your bill, the month after you use it, not instantly.
5. When do my points expire? And can I lose them?
Points will expire 24 months from the day you earned them. We’ll always use your oldest points first when you redeem.
If you leave OVO, your points will be locked and you won’t be able to redeem them. Your points will stay in your wallet for 24 months after they were allocated, then they will be lost. If you re-join OVO and sign up to the points programme before your points expire they’ll be unlocked.
If you move house and take OVO with you, you can transfer your points, by filling out the home move form within your online account. Once completed the points will be transferred over within 90 days.
If you stop being eligible for the Beyond points programme, for example you stop paying by Direct Debit, your points may be locked.
