Good communications, good website and being able to see your energy consumption and costs updated daily is a big advantage. Smart metre does all the work and submits readings direct. The ability to review your direct debit and adjust on line is excellent.

Easy to deal with.
I've been with OVO for years. Never had a problem, billing or anything else. Pricing was always competitive, although this years new contract was a bit of a shock. I'm not going to change from them - Better the devil you know than the devil you don't!

Nov '21 will be 10 years with OVO…
Nov '21 will be 10 years with OVO Energy. I initially chose them on price and the fact that they paid an interest reward (until Ofgem said it was too confusing). I have stayed for the service (i.e. good website & not screwing up), their low-carbon credentials (I'd be happy with nuclear power too) and easy ability to track usage. I only wish that they would have a something that shows how much my energy usage & carbon footprint has changed since I became a customer.
I have been with OVO for four years and don’t have any complaints about their service. One thing went wrong with my meter and an adviser talked me through how to fix it. All the advisers I have spoken to have been helpful. My tariff has worked well through the years and I have been told when there was a cheaper one. Very happy with OVO.

The reason I stayed is because ovo has not been mentioned as one of the energy companies struggling and the fact I am paid interest in my credit balance at a better rate than any savings accounts I hold with my bank.

Glad to be back with OVO. Had moved to avro what a mistake that was, just switched 2 weeks before Avros collapse. I liked the deals OVO were able to offer at that time - being able to fix energy prices for 2 years. Not having to even think about switching for 2 years. Love being able to manage my account online, really missed being able to adjust direct debit online without having bother Customer services. Replies to customer emails are prompt and within the 5 day turnaround period. Love the green energy ethos of this company, the planting of trees in the uk to help us all reach net zero carbon emissions sooner. There is no getting away from the fact that my energy contract is a lot more expensive this year (and for so many others out there.) But I now know what is critically important in choosing an energy supplier and that is the ability to contact customer service and then receiving a prompt helpful reply back. Indeed I am prepared to pay that bit extra for good customer service, especially after the past few awful months at AVRO. I think OVOs deal was competitive and I liked the fact that I didn't have to agree to a smart meter installation unlike many of the deals being offered by several of their competitors.

Fear made me stay. Fear of being unable to change to a new supplier who in all. Likelihood will go bust. The price rise is awful.
A good experience so far
Choosing your energy supplier is not easy during these difficult times. We have been with OVO for 3 years and we renewed for a further 2 years before the current crisis. We have not experienced any difficulties during our time with OVO and have found staff helpful on the rare occasions we have had to contact them. We read our meters each month and the billing system has not created any problems for us. The utility comparison systems are not without their difficulties for the layperson but as far as we can ascertain the rates are competitive.
