Power your world with greener electricity.
We’re helping to future-proof the world by supporting new renewable electricity. By signing up to Greener Electricity you’re helping to make a positive impact on generations to come.
That power shoots through335 renewable generators (and counting)
It then feeds into the grid that your homes are hooked up to.
Our communityof energy growers
They sell us their renewable electricity from sites across the UK. To join OVO's community of generators you'll need to fill in a speedy questionnaire on our website telling us your capacity and including an estimated annual export. Then, we’ll be able to tell you how much you could sell your power for.
Helping us generate305k homes worth of power
As that number grows, so will our positive impact1
Enough to power10.3 million light bulbs1
According to Evergreen Energy the average UK home has 34 lightbulbs, our PPA agreements will generate enough electricity to power 305,000 homes.

How we buyrenewable electricity
We use something called Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to buy green electricticy from our community of renewable generators. By signing long and short-term contracts with renewable energy generators, we can increase the amount of sustainable energy that we source, while knowing exactly where our energy comes from. This puts money back into the pockets of people powering the renewable revolution.
The newgeneration
We know we need more green energy, and we want to help make that a reality. Our subsidy-free PPAs support independent renewable generators - like small businesses and community groups - to get their power on the UK grid.
Independent generators can’t always access government subsidies for their energy, which means funding can be hard to come by. This is where we come in – for subsidy-free PPAs we pay them above market prices that help encourage more renewable generators to be built. Why? More renewable power in the UK = greater energy security and lower prices and carbon for everyone.
How we buy electricityfrom small-scale generators
If you're an eco-pioneer and generate electricity from home, we want to pay you. The Smart Export Guarantee, or SEG, pays you for the electricity you generate at home, then puts it back into the national grid for others to use. The renewable power you generate can come from many sources – solar is the most popular, but it can also come from other technologies like wind and hydro. How much you can earn depends on how much energy you export.
Meet our communityof generators
Clearwell Farm
Clearwell Farm near Cardiff has been generating wind and solar power since 2013. Last summer, while working with OVO, the team at Clearwell added extra solar panels to create even more clean power – enough for nearly 1,000 homes.
Ambition Community Energy
This community-owned wind turbine in Bristol powers over 3,000 homes. And it’s powering the local community of Lawrence Weston, too – all its profits are reinvested for the benefit of the people who live there.
Green Farm
Green by name, and by nature. These aptly named sites are managed by a third generation family of farmers. Specialising in potatoes, the family’s 1100kW of solar generation helps to run their operations in a more sustainable way.

Invest for the future
Installing solar panels on the roof meant this family in Weston-super-Mare can generate around 2500kWh a year. As well as saving on bills, their daughters can grow up with renewable energy being a part of their everyday life.
Working from home
This family of four in Portsmouth power their lives with five solar panels on their south-facing roof. OVO supported Jag and his family from survey through to final installation, making sure it ran as smoothly as possible.
Self-sufficient
With energy prices rising, this customer in Somerset decided it was time to try and reduce costs and their carbon footprint by installing solar panels. With eight set up, they’ve dropped monthly electricity costs in the summer from £60 to under £10.

Pond Farm
Where there’s wind, there’s a way. Pond Farm became our first subsidy-free wind turbine to provide renewable power to our customers when it started turning in March 2023. Managed by a family-run company, you’ll find its wind turbines sat at one of the highest points in Norfolk.
Skeeby Solar Farm
Built in the heart of Yorkshire, Skeeby Solar Farm is on track to become one of the UK’s largest solar farms – and may eventually power over 17,000 homes. They’re set to begin generating solar power as early as spring 2024.
Important to know
305K homes worth of power is based on the forecast average annual output from OVO’s PPAs and Ofgem’s average annual domestic electricity consumption of 2,700kWh and seasonal normal weather conditions. Figure correct at time of writing in July 2025.
According to Evergreen Energy the average UK home has 34 lightbulbs, our PPA agreements will generate enough electricity to power 305,000 homes.
