Put simply, we wanted to improve the PAYG experience for thousands of people. We started doing this when we invented a PAYG energy app. It gave people the freedom to top up their meters from their smartphones anytime, anywhere.
We want to bring PAYG users, like you, a dedicated PAYG team who are totally focused on making your life easier. How? By offering even better service and developing exciting new products and services too.
Boost is a part of the OVO family, which means you’ll still speak to the same award-winning team – but you’ll have special PAYG experts on-hand to help you. There will be new phone numbers to call, a shiny new website and a new Boost app (if you already have a smart meter).
In short: lots of things will stay the same. Like your info, for instance. That’ll still be looked after safely by the same team using the same systems.
With the government’s winter price cap, we’ve dropped our PAYG rates too. So you can settle into Boost on new, lower prices (effective from 29th September 2017). See our rates.
Here are some answers to help you.
All OVO PAYG customers will automatically become Boost customers in the next few months.
Absolutely nothing. We’ll handle everything at our end, but we’ll send you emails and/or letters to keep you in the loop. At some point (if you’re a Smart PAYG+ customer) you’ll need to download a new app, but we’ll tell you when. For now, you can keep using the OVO app.
Yes, you’ll always be able to use your current key/card.
Yes. You can switch now if you’re on an OVO variable plan with no contract (but if you’re on a ‘fixed’ 12 month contract you’ll have to wait until it ends). At Boost, we don’t believe in tying people down with contracts. So try us risk-free – and leave anytime if you don’t love us.
No. You’ve got nothing to worry about.
Your supply won’t be affected when Boost starts supplying you. Just make sure you top up as usual to keep your energy going.
Not very easily. The OVO team now only offer pay monthly plans, so they’d need to fit a different pay monthly meter for you, and there might be a fee for this service.
Boost are partners with OVO, so your account details won’t be moving anywhere – they’ll stay in the same spot; safe and sound.
No, we want to keep our rates as low and fair as possible. With the government’s winter price cap, we’ve dropped our PAYG rates too. So you can settle into Boost on new, lower prices (effective from 29th September 2017). See our rates.
Boost will bring you everything you love about OVO – but even more. You’ll get a dedicated team focused on PAYG, offering even better service and developing exciting new products and services too.
Yes, we’re working with OVO to give Boost members smart meters. You can book yours here.
The Boost app offers the same benefits and features as the OVO app you love. And, over time, it will bring you even more.
OVO wants to give all customers the best experience possible. That’s why we’ve split the pay monthly team from the PAYG team. The end game is that we can spend more time bringing you what you want.
Boost and OVO share the same trading licence. This means it’ll be the same company supplying your energy under a different name.
Yes, same company, but a bit more than a name change. We’ve also changed our teams so that Boost will be run by PAYG specialists or experts (whatever you want to call them). They’re here to make your experience better, and bring you exciting new products and services too.
Yes, our customer service team will still be based in Bristol and run to the same high standards of service that OVO has.
